England Swings Like a Pendulum Do....

A well-remembered tune by Roger Miller back in the day.  Here's the first stanza of the song....
England swings like a pendulum do
Bobbies on bicycles, two by two
Westminster Abbey the tower of Big Ben
The rosy red cheeks of the little children

And my treasure made for my husband and me by brother Dan the woodwork artist:

This grandfather clock has Westminster chimes imported from Germany.  We don't even hear it chime during the night, unless we have been up and listen to find out what time it us before we go back to sleep.  When it chimes four, I know I have a bit of time to go back to sleep!

And there is my Grandson, Carson....who has developed quite a swing for his baseball team:

Since I don't have any pictures of "swingers" or of a dance team "swing", these are my submissions for BYG Adventures and the word swing for Pondering.  Thanks for hosting, Brenda...there were so many uses of the word in the old dictionary!

Have a great day!
Linda Kay

Oh My Heart... I love the Grandfather Clocks/Tall Clocks. I want one so so so much.. Does your brother make them and sell them --or was this just a special gift for you all???

I love chiming clocks and have 3 in my home. All three chime --and we love them. Don't even notice them anymore --unless we are listening for them.

We have one from my hubby's family, one from my family and one that a German lady gave us... Love them all.

You are so so so blessed to have that clock... Someday I may get a big one!!! I hope!

Hugs,
Betsy

I do like grandfather clocks, yours is very lovely....we have a very small one on the wall, it chimes, has worn out once, been repaired, next time it will be replaced.

I can't sleep with a ticking or chiming clock, it would drive me mad :) But your brother did a great job in making one.

I love that song. I have a handcrafted grandmother clock. It doesn't work. I hope I can get a clock repair person someday. I loved it when it chimed. X overwound it, and it hasn't made a sound in more than five years.

Love,
Janie

Your brother really is an artist....such a beautiful clock. I have never wanted one, but I sure admire them. And if I had a big house, I am sure I would be more than willing to have one...just would never have fit any place we have lived.

Lovely old clock, Linda! And I love the old tunes, even before my time! I will be posting a Journey Back in Time on my blog tomorrow (Saturday). Thank you so much for sharing, your post has put a smile on my face and in my heart. :)

I love the clock.
It reminds me of my grandmothers clock and the times spent listening to it. Makes me wonder whatever happened to it.

I see you mentioned an old dictionary.
I still have and use the dictionary I grew up using. I love it! Think it beats the internet hands down. Brings back memories of my sister and I creatively looking up words in it. That old dictionary must be at least 40 years old.

Have a great weekend!
