Ft. McKavett Ruins

I found these pictures from one of our road trips on the Forts Trail in Texas.  These come from one of the barracks ruins at the Fort, one in Black and White and One in Color.  Which one do you like the best?  Linking with Good Fences (although this is more like doors in some walls) you might enjoy.  It's fun to think about what these walls and doorways have to tell.

These were taken by the camera man hubby with his Nikon, not by my trusty IPhone!  Thanks for hosting, Theresa.  Hope these aren't too far removed from your theme.

Very neat photos! You'd never guess, but these remind me of a scene in The Rat Patrol where the patrol and Dietrich join forces against a fanatical group, taking refuge in a place that looks like this...

HI Linda I like both of them however I think if I have to choose it would be the colour one however I would prefer it with a double frame like the first one.

I prefer black and white. It is amazing how many abandoned places you have in your huge country..

I am going to send you a recipe for tincture at the weekend..

Black and white gives it a nice antique feeling.

But color gives you a better idea of what is really there.

Good to have both!

Hi Linda Kay, Aren't walls and fences sort of alike ... they keep some things in and some things out ... looks like it qualifies for a Good Fence to me! Nice pics by the hubby! Have a great day and thanks for your comments on John's Island. John

The black and white gives it an 'old time' feel to the image, but the color I like too.

I've not heard of this fort...may have to find it on the map through google and go there sometime.

Well composed shot with the tree through the gate/door opening. I actually prefer the BW this time, It gives it more of a dramatic feel.

Toss up, maybe, depending on how much attention one wanted to draw toward the shadow and openings.
