What is This Creature?

I'm posting a picture of a lizard type creature for you to join in to Saturday Critters with Eileen.  Thanks for hosting!  But I have no idea what it's formal name might be.  It was just hanging out on my wall in the back yard, and I've seen it many times.  Kind of creepy looking.

So who can identify this creature for me???

Have a special weekend.

Linda Kay.

I like it but no ID for it. Have a lovely weekend.

He/she seems to be similar to our Fence lizard but far more "fancy" in its patterns.

I guess knowing it is beautiful and a useful bug eater may be all we need to know.

I think eViL pOp TaRt is is right: Texas Spiny Lizard (Sceloporus olivaceus).

P.S. I'm in Columbus, OH at them moment. (But I'd rather be in West Virginia!)

I think epT nailed it with the texas-spiny-lizard.
But I may have found another name for it. The jumping death lizard. But that's probably wrong so don't worry.

I'm at a loss, Linda! Growing up and living in NYC so long I hardly saw any wildlife beyond squirrels and birds. Now that I am on the Front Range of Colorado I'm trying to learn what snakes are non poisonous and what are rattlesnakes--ugh!

eViL pOp TaRt (Angelique) nailed it.

Great picture! I don't know what kind it is, but I remember trying to catch lizards when I was a little girl!

I think he is a good looking guy. He can come to my house and eat mosquitoes and entertain my cat any day!
