Birds on Saturday

From our visit to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, I have some bird pictures to share with you, some of which I don't have documented as to what they are, like this very colorful pretty bird.

This lovely raptor, we all recognize in the U.S. as our national symbol, the eagle.

Flamingos are sort of an odd bird, and their coloring is always a fascination.

This little cutie has a strange hood, where his feathers actually come up toward the face.

This is a lovely spoonbill.

Birds are such fascinating creatures.  Some of you may be able to fill in the blanks on the ones I do not know, and thanks for any identity you can give them.  Linking in today with Eileen for Saturday CrittersSaturday's Critters

I have never seen a flock of flamingos and I think that would be quite stunning. In fact, I haven't seen most of these birds and they are so beautifully coloured. WE have lots of Eagles , but the others - NOPE . Thank you for sharing .

The first one looks like a Mandarin duck. The colorful bird is especially beautiful.

Would you consider quantity over quality because I have about 10,000 starlings I'd like to send your way.

all so unique and beautiful in their own way. But that eagle though... wow.
I didn't know until a trip to Florida that flamingos get their pink colouring from the shrimp they eat. If they don't eat shrimp, they are not pink.

I have always liked birds.
They seem to have a calming effect, except maybe the vulture. Thank you for sharing these pictures. Sorry I don't know the names of the other birds.

xoxo
