Day 3 of our Adventure

We are now in Carlisle, PA at a Fairfield Inn, nice accomodations, and they take the dogs. We are up to 1645 miles of driving in the three days on the road. Today, we left from Knoxville, TN, traveled most of our time in Virginia after leaving Tennessee, then drove through a small part of West Virginia and a tiny piece of Maryland before entering Pennsylvania on Hwy 81. We are about 45 miles into Pennsylvania. Dinner tonight at the Rustic Tavern and had seafood quesadillas and salad and soup. And a glass of wine!

We needed to get some pictures for Eileen's Saturday Critters, so we got these two of the dairy cattle and the beef cattle as we drove through Virginia.

Note the mountains in the background of these pictures. We had so little opportunity to get pictures between the trees that grow along the highways.

We did see lots of dairy farms with their beautiful silos and white buildings along the Pennsylvania stretch of 81 on our way to Carlisle.

Have a fabulous weekend, and I'll be back in touch on Monday! We will reach our destination on Sunday.

Linda Kay

Oh, I know that you are seeing a beautiful part of our country. We traveled from the mts of NC to NY many times and I've always thought the countryside in PA is gorgeous. Stay safe and have fun! Hugs, Diane

Hi, Linda Kay!

Enjoy your vacation! I love the Penn. welcome sign..

I've been there. You don't need the Welcome to Pennsylvania sign to know you've arrived. The roads are terrible, or they used to be. I hope they've been scrubbed and polished and had their bumps smoothed out and their potholes filled, and all for you. When it snowed, I knew the exact second I left Maryland and entered PA because the roads weren't cleared. You two are quite the drivers.

Love,
Janie

What a great trip you are having. Pennsylvania is very attractive and interesting, I think. We enjoyed the Lancaster County, great scenery and even greater quilts and crafts! love Philadelphia too. Happy travels.

You were in my town! Linda, I would have put the coffee on. Now you're in WV (my birthplace).

Great pictures and though I don't like the really long drives as much as I used to - this looks like a great trip!
