It's Saturday

Had a lovely dinner with some friends last night after a busy day of fence building and TV installation with DirecTv. Hubby will be working on fence today with his friend who is helping. He is a fireball and works circles around Jerry. We are more than happy to pay him for his work.

You may notice I changed my header a couple of days ago. The picture on the right is from our visit to Camden Maine a couple of years ago. On Wednesday we will be heading out for a return trip to Camden, driving across country on a real "Senior Adventure", taking our two doggies for the 2300 mile trip. So be looking for my post each evening as we connect to Wi-
Fi at the hotels along the way. Our first destination is Vicksburg, TN.

In keeping with Eileen's Saturday critters, I want to share with you a few photos from a Cicada Killer in our back yard, digging in the dirt. If you click on the link you can see more about these guys.
This is what they thrive on:

These are the holes they are leaving in the soft dirt in our back yard. Where is the landscaper?

Have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you on Monday!

Linda Kay

Great shots of the Cicada Killer!

They are fearsome-looking insects, but in my experience not at all aggressive like paper wasps, yellowjackets, and other hornets.

Hi Linda Kay, I love your photo of the lighthouse and the sail boat. Very nice! Your coming trip and return to Camden sounds great and I will be looking forward to your reports from the road. 2300 miles is about the same as road trips I used to do from Seattle down to Texas back in the summers when I was teaching. Always loved those trips. Take care and be safe!

Did not know wasps were cicada hunters.

We don't see cicadas up here, so I had no idea about wasps doing that to them.

Enjoy the trip!

We don't have Cicadas up here, I kind of miss all the noise at night. So I guess we don't have Cicada killers either, they are an interesting insect. Good luck with setting up your new house and yard. I like the lighthouse.

We have them in our backyard at times...they used to be thick here at certain times of year but now just a few every year.

Safe journey. Lucky to have wi-fi all the way. We don't, this is the first time for days...but then that is the outback of Australia.

Have a wonderful week ahead. It's no fun to work around here right now because it's so hot and muggy.

We had those cicada wasps in Illinois and I was shocked at how HUGE they were. Very scary!

I had a very pleasant visit to Maine a good few years back. Even though it was in the summer, I found it rather chilly - at least during our visit.

Hi Linda Kay, I sure have missed visiting your posts. Things seem to be back on track finally. Bill is recovering well thank goodness.

We too love Maine. We spent a month in Arcadia a few years ago. Actually outside of Arcadia in a lovely RV park. Love your pics on your header. Have a wonderful trip and share your adventure.

I have never seen a photo of a Cicada Killer. Yikes. Great pics of the habits of this bug. I hope we never get any. LOL.

Be careful on your trip and have fun.
Hugs,
Jeanne
