Niagara Falls

As we were getting fairly close to Buffalo New York, we realized that Niagara Falls was only a short distance away, so we decided to take a detour to get some photos. It is probably one of the most breathtaking things I've ever seen. There were so many tourists there, and it was a Monday! We were on the US side, and you will see the Canadian viewers in the photos. In the first two shots, you will see the boats that go right down toward the falls, so everyone is covered in a red poncho. Note the rainbow created by the falls.

And the falls, looking from the US side toward Canada.

The Niagara River roaring and tumbling toward the falls.

Hopefully, you will be able to hear the falls in this video, taken with my little camera.
Have a really special week, heading into September. This is our last day of August!

Holy cow...it IS the last day of August.

I was miles away from the falls a few years ago teaching a PM class...but never had the time to go visit. I could kick myself

Niagara Falls! Great! Wonderful!
We went there years ago - in November! Really cold, but so fascinating! We went across to the Canadian side, too, for about 30 minutes. Just long enough to take some photos.
It is the end of August! We have wonderfully cooler weather here in Mississippi. Very much like Autumn, my favorite time of year.
Have a wonderful week!

I really must go back and see it some day. I was there when I was about 6, but it seems so full of tourists and traffic on the Canadian side I've avoided it for years. Glad you stopped to see it.

I haven't visited the falls in more than 55 years but would love to return. Just how close do those boats get to the falls? It sorta made me anxious.

Niagra Falls was a frequent destination when I was young (lived in that upper quadrant of Ohio). My sons haven't been there! How did that happen?

I recall how drenched we got on one of those boats back in the '60's with the kids in tow. Our jeans were soaked up to our knees from the wet decks - and we were so cold!!!

Beautiful Niagara Falls, a sight to see and a grand experience, and for me only surpassed by standing on the edge of Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side! First visit I viewed from Zambia side which is awesome, second trip we took the small motorboat out to Livingstone Island - for a lovely teatime no less - but first were walked to the edge of the falls by the guide. It was precarious as we had to walk through mud and over rocks, and had to remove footwear, roll up pants and wear a poncho - but it was worth it (although a stiff drink might have been better than a cup of tea!), and will always remain one of my most memorable moments in Africa.

Nice pics and video - thanks for sharing.

Your photos of Niagara Falls are super! I so wanted to visit there at the first of August when we were in Ontario but we decided not to as it was a holiday weekend and the traffic was atrocious! We did see them in 1996 though. Have a great first week of September.

I grew up about an hour's drive away on the Ontario side and we would visit every once in awhile. I really must see the falls again sometime soon.

Niigara Falls! Truly one of the most beautiful sights ever! We rode the boat. The sounds of the falls is indeed really something to hear. I can't believe anybody would choose to go over those rushing waters.
