Toady

This little guy was sitting along the edge of a building, just after a downpour. I guess he came out for air, and he posed for me there. Sharing today with Eileen at Saturday Critters.

Little toad I see you there,
Did you come out to get some air?
The rain was just a few minutes at best,
Washing away your little nest.

Where will find another place
To hang your hat and wash your face?
While you're contemplating what will be,
Thanks for posing here for me.

Have a wonderful Saturday and weekend, my friends.

Linda Kay

This is a delightful poem.

I am happy to see an increase in our toad population. They were very thin for a while but are coming back. They are very cold if you step on them barefooted, after dark, on your porch! I did not hurt him. As soon as the cold touching the bottom of my foot registered as SNAKE I was able to jump high enough to avoid hurting the poor toad.

They are fantastic bug eaters.

Also I'm jealous that you had rain. We are bone dry here.

How adorable! And I miss the sound of frogs; we just don't seem to have any in our neighborhood.

I came home one night and there was one on my door--next to my doorknob. I was terrified to try to open the door because I was sure he'd jump on me!

We were crazy with all kinds of frogs this year. From bullfrogs in the pond across the street to tree frogs chirping all night long.

Yes they are fond of water.

But did you try and lick it to see if it was the kind of toad that gets you high? (Kidding, of course, that would have just turned the toad into a prince, obviously.)
I love a good toad picture and a great poem to accompany it.

Such a cute poem Linda Kay and loved the photo of your little frog. When we went for a walk we saw many of these little guys.
