Friday "Finds"

By this past Friday, my week had been pretty hectic. I told hubby that I was planning to stay home all day to get some things done. Then my friend Coleen called and asked if I wanted to go to Kerrville. Needless to say, I grabbed a quick shower and was ready in 30 minutes.

1. Off we went. Our first stop was to find the nursing and rehab center where our friend Ruth currently resides. Ruth is the loveliest 88 year old you will ever meet. We found her and spent some time laughing and visiting. She is doing pretty well, but has to be close by for dialysis treatments.

2. After leaving Ruth at her dining table, we left to go thrift shopping. Here are some of the unusual items we found at "Finds"

My daughter collects roosters, but I think these dishes are really too much even for her.

3. That night we saw the movie Revenant with Leo DiCaprio. Oh my goodness, he should get an Oscar, but the movie is very shall we say "graffic". He has already won a Golden Globe, as did the movie. It was really good - 156 minutes!

4. My dilemma is now fixed. As you can see from the above picture, the light in the breakfast area of the house was hung in the center of the room, However, the window is off to the left of center, the table in front of it, so the light had to be "swagged" over to above the center of the table. I can't tell you how many tall guys have bumped their heads. So here's the result.

5. I leave you with this:

Have a really special weekend, my dear friends! Linking in today with Willy Nilly Friday 5 and Five on Friday. Thanks for hosting!

It was a rather realistic movie, couldn't watch it to the end. But Leo can have an Oscar in my opinion.

Hello, the thrift shopping sounds like fun. I like the rooster dishes. What a great idea for your light, it looks nice over the table. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

Emotional baggage sounds wonderful. It would be great to leave some kind of emotional baggage before trip. the Revenant... I was screaming half of this movie...

LOVED the cartoon! Boy would they rake in the dough! :-) Loved seeing your move of your overhead light....so often things like that just never get resolved! Can't wait to see Revenant! I would love to go thrift shopping. Daughter and I have a little shopping planned for today....maybe we can scoot off to a thrift store or two! :-)

can't believe it's FRiday already. I love thrift stores just to look and take photos and find that one occasional special thing you can't live without...lol! On to the weekend. It was a good week for me, had another shot in the eye and was told my retina is helaing nicely...HURRAH!

Wonderful to get out now and then.

Table and light look great.

Good laugh. Hubby wants very much to see the movie and I will go along having no love of the rawness of such movies. I know it will be too depressing for me, but he goes to my chick-flicks and my deep emotional dramas, so I guess I owe him this one.

Some of us have more emotional baggage than others!

Very clever fix of the light's position. It's perfect now! Such interesting things in the Find Shop. I can't imagine anyone having enough hats to need that hat tree. I'm glad you liked Revenant. Someone told me a while ago that it was about Leo being a ghoul and leading a zombie army. Now that I know the true story of the survivor Glass, I have to admit I'm not nearly so interested. Super funny comic - thanks for the laugh and have a great weekend!

Oh you made me laugh with the last one, if they start that there will be few of us who can afford to fly!! The light looks good now over your table doesn't it and it sounds a lot safer too! The cactus in the thrift store is great isn't it. Thank you for joining Five On Friday! Happy Weekend! xx p.s. I have nearly finished my book! xx

So the joke...
What does a South African prison have that Leonardo Dicaprio doesn't? An Oscar.
... might not be relevant anymore?

Oh, that's funny. We all have emotional baggage don't we? But, thank goodness we don't get charged real money for it, just pay in other ways.

Your friend Ruth sounds delightful. How nice that you girls went to visit with her.

Very nice of you to take time out of your day to visit your friend. I bet you made her day. Now what was that first item? Very strange. I am wanting to buy a hat and wear it without feeling self-conscious about it.

I like the way you resolved that problem with the light. And love the cartoon. I guess if you can carry a turkey on the plane for your comfort, I guess they can charge for emotional baggage.

Linda, sounds like you have some very nice friends. And what a nice little trip. I love Leo, and also heard about the graphic scene, but what still like to see this movie.

Have a nice weekend.

Your joke definitely gave me a chuckle. How nice that you found time to visit your friend, I know she must have appreciated it. Love the rooster dishes, I think I could learn to live with them.

Can be a problem with overhanging lights. We used to have one in the lounge room. We did what you did over the dinning table. Now we have a flush light which is even better.

Ha I would be the same ready in less than 30 mins even for a day out! I haven't been to the movies in a while, but it's tradition we go to the local art deco cinema to unwind after the first match won at the Aussie Open, let's hope I go to the movies this week!

Ha! That last one just made me laugh out loud. I love that glass man in 'Thrifts'. I'm looking forward to seeing the film, I really like Leo, he is fab! The light looks great over the table and I bet tall people notice the difference ha! Have a lovely weekend xx

That movie gets rave reviews, but I am likely to skip it regardless. No doubt, I would like it if I went, but it doesn't sound appealing.

The light looks great! If they charged for emotional baggage, a lot of folks would never be able to afford to fly.
