Unusual shopping

There is a little shop just North of us on Llano (Rte 16) called Kuck-kuck Nest (Cuckoos Nest). I couldn't find an Internet site, but the owner takes her wares to all the German celebrations in the area to sell lederhosen (leather shorts with suspenders for men) and dirndl dresses. She also has some delightful German imports you might find in shops in Germany. I found this delightful little jug for my kitchen, since I love the dark blue. The top and handles are pewter.

At the Artisan Art Shop in Fredericksburg, I saw this delightful stool, intricately designed in mesquite, a popular wood used in Texas. This was among many displays of coffee tables and end tables. You can see other creations on top the stool and to the right. I didn't buy this as it was a little too pricey for me!
Have you found anything interesting out shopping lately? Have a great "hump day".

Linda Kay

I just love that jug - the colours are amazing.
I do enjoy having a 'mooch' around the shops.

All the best Jan

I love that stool! Can it actually be used as a stepstool? It is SO pretty! Nice find.

That looks lovely, a very nice combination of pewter and pottery. I like the stool also. We have a German Christmas shop that I have visited. It also has traditional clothing of the style you have mentioned. It is a very popular place but I don't go too often as it is just a bit too far other than for rare visits. Have a great week Linda Kay :)

Looks like a metal stool my mother had. Which I want btw but it supposed to be in storage. But my brother has the key and he's is on again off again working so who knows.
Anyway did the stools step fold in? Mothers did.
I love the vase. Will it be decorative or hold flowers. Or maybe utensils can't tell. Looks like its kinda tall.
I enjoyed this fun little virtual shopping trip.
I went to my favorite antique mall yesterday. Had lunch in the tea room. I have a post planned soon!
Thanks for sharing. Happy hump day.

That little jug is lovely. I would consider that a great find. Lately when I go to the thrift store, I am not seeing much, however, I did find some sweet little bowls for use in the kitchen, and also Christmas tins for packing cookies and fudge. I really like the wooden stool.

There was a shop, tho in Fredericksburg, of imported German Santas...I still think of it many times, wondering if it's still there [can't remember the name of the establishment, but I could walk right to it, wanting to go back and shop more. Love your urn.
