Oregon Lighthouse #5

This is my last Friday lighthouse post from our trip down the Oregon Coast. This is the Cape Blanco lighthouse. It's 9 miles north of Port Orford, built in 1870. It is the oldest lighthouse on the Oregon Coast and stands 245 feet above sea level. We walked down the trail to get up close to the lighthouse.

The last picture makes it look like the lighthouse might be in the middle of Texas. Hey, there's a project for hubby. Build a lighthouse in the plains. Tell everyone there used to be a sea there.

I was there last spring! It's a beautiful lighthouse, but I wish all that ugly communication equipment wasn't nearby.

I love lighthouses. I enjoyed seeing this picture. My brief visit to Oregon didn't get me to the coast. We have a lot of lighthouses in Michigan and I hope to visit them all.
