Passion Flower Pods

Here's an interesting item for you. Remember the beautiful purple passion flower on my post a few days ago?

Well, with the flower dried up, guess what showed up on the flower?

We are guessing they are some sort of seed pod, almost as big as the flower. I'm going to let these dry up a bit, then split them open to see what's inside. Anyone have an idea? Have a wonderful weekend!

My husband says they ate them when he was a kid, but they don't look appealing to me, so I don't know. (Maybe there are recipes on the Internet somewhere)
The thing I do know is that when I was a kid, my brother and I stuck small sticks into them for legs to make 'cows' for our 'Farms' - toys were much simpler way back then!

Didn't you see "Pod People"?

They are alien seeds pods. If you break them open you will become a purple passion slave for the rest of your life.

Haha! Silly me. Love everybody's comments. I just thought maybe you might plant them and get more Passion flowers. They are so beautiful.

Passion fruit (called lilikoi here in Hawaii) are edible. The insides are tart/sweet, and they are used for making lilikoi juice or syrups. Some people bake with them; thinks like lilikoi chiffon, lilikoi pies, etc.). You can google recipes!
