Juliets

Most of you have heard of the ROMEOs (Retired old men eating out), but have you heard of the JULIETs? I meet monthly with some very good friends, Just Us Ladies Into Every Thing.

This past week we visited the 1940s display of women's clothing at the Nimitz Museum also known as the National Museum of the Pacific War. Admiral Chester Nimitz was originally from Fredericksburg, so he is a hero of the village. One of the beautiful features of the museum is the Japanese Garden, set up for the museum by a group from Japan to honor Marshal-Admiral Togo, who became good friends with Nimitz. I thought I'd share a few pictures with you. Such a restful, lovely setting.

After our visit we enjoyed lunch and said good-bye to our friends heading north for the summer. They are too chicken to stay here with us in the Texas heat!

My hubby and I continue to volunteer. Yesterday we took in items for our annual Freecycle. Then this morning, our Missions Team arranged all the items outside. We opened at 10:00 AM, and this is what it looked like.

Here are the shoppers - everything is free, like God's grace!

The YouTube link is missing the whole link. If you click on the YouTube icon and go to YouTube you get https://www.youtube.com/?. So you can edit you post with the correct link. Change the edit from compose to HTML.

I'd like to be a JULIET. That sounds like fun. The museum would be great.

Strange to think of Nimitz and Togo becoming friends.

My husband is one of those ROMEOS. Since he retired in 2005 he has been eating out with other retirees once a month. Now I and some other wives join our husbands, so I guess they are not just ROMEOS any longer. Tomorrow (Monday)is the eating out day for May!
I had heard of Juliets, but was told it meant Just Us Girls Into Eating Together. Whatever you call it, it is a lot of fun!
Hope you have a great week!

I'd love to be a Juliet! Today is the anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea which took place off the north coast of our State of Queensland. This morning our Prime Minister and Governor General attended a dawn service in Townsville, the city which hosted so many of our USA friends during the Pacific War. Without their help, our country would have had a very different future. Later this week our Prime Minister will meet President Trump at another memorial ceremony in the US. When we visited Fredericksburg in 2006 my husband went to this museum with our friend (we Juliets went shopping for turquoise :) Great Post Linda Kay.

Your JULIETS sound awesome! I've seen the Nimitz Museum but have never visited. Would have loved to have included Fredericksburg in our trip but alas we didn't go went of Austin while in TX.
